Comprehensive Retrofit of Thermal Power Units Boosts Demand for High-Temperature Seals

China’s National Energy Administration advances flexibility upgrade projects for coal-fired power units nationwide. A total of 80 million kilowatts of unit upgrades are scheduled to finish in 2026, creating growing market demand for high-temperature seals supporting boilers, circulating water pumps and steam pipelines.

After retrofit, units face wider load fluctuation ranges, which raises stricter requirements for sealing parts in thermal shock resistance, high-temperature steam tolerance and leakage reduction. Conventional rubber seals cannot meet long-term continuous operation needs. Flexible graphite packing, metal spiral wound high-temp gaskets and graphite composite sealing sheets become preferred matching products for power plant retrofits.

Industrial application data shows units equipped with graphite-based high-temperature seals achieve over 3 times longer average trouble-free service life of sealing assemblies. This effectively cuts maintenance shutdown frequency and lowers power plant operation costs. Procurement standards for the power sector keep tightening; all products are required to comply with GB and ASTM international standards, and bulk customized special sizes are available.
